WARNING: Incorrectly installing PastPerfect can cause irreversible loss of data and accidental creation of multiple datasets, so contacting our support office before any new installation or reinstallation of software is strongly encouraged. You should also make a backup of your data, images and multimedia files to a removable drive or CD/DVD before you begin.

If your current PastPerfect computer is being replaced, you can move your PastPerfect program to your new computer. However, the process to transfer PastPerfect to a new computer will vary depending on the current program’s setup. To make sure the transition process is easy and to protect the data already entered in PastPerfect, contact the PastPerfect Support Team before any installation is completed on the new computer. They will evaluate your current program and give you the proper steps to install for your specific situation.

Reinstalling PastPerfect on your existing computer is not recommended. If you are experiencing errors or other issues with your current PastPerfect program, contact the PastPerfect Support Team for assistance before any attempt to uninstall or reinstall the program.

Our main goal is to make sure that your PastPerfect data is safe. Organizations with Annual Support Services can be guided through this process as part of their service agreement. Organizations without annual support will receive the same level of guidance for a per-incident support fee of $85. Our office can be reached at 1-800-562-6080 Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 5:30PM Eastern Time or by email at support@museumsoftware.com.

For Version 5.0 users:
Please make sure the new computer has MS-Word installed and activated before installing PastPerfect. Many new computers come pre-installed with the latest version of Office, which needs to be activated before first use. If you do not have a current activation code for your MS-Office program, you can purchase an activation code through Microsoft or any location that sells Office products. Registered non-profits may be able to get an activation code from techsoup.org at a discounted rate.
